File Your eKYC NowMandatory Annual Compliance for Directors
Under the Companies Act, 2013, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) requires every individual holding a Director Identification Number (DIN) to complete their eKYC annually. This ensures transparency and maintains updated personal details on the MCA registry.
Due Date & Penalties
- Annual Deadline: The due date for filing is 30th September every year.
- Late Penalty: Filing after the deadline attracts a strict government penalty of ₹5,000.
- DIN Deactivation: Non-compliance leads to your DIN being marked as "Deactivated due to non-filing of DIR-3 KYC".
- Corporate Impact: A deactivated DIN restricts you from acting as a director or designated partner, and you cannot file any corporate documents.
Types of eKYC Filings
Depending on your current status, the MCA has provided two distinct avenues for completing your KYC:
1. Form DIR-3 KYC (Full Form)
Required for individuals who have been allotted a new DIN and are filing their KYC for the first time. It is also required if a director needs to update existing details (like a new mobile number or email ID). This requires a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) and certification by a practicing CA, CS, or CMA.
2. DIR-3 KYC Web
A streamlined, web-based verification process designed for directors who have successfully filed the full DIR-3 KYC form in the previous financial year and have absolutely no changes to their personal details (address, mobile, email).
